Paris Saint-Germain announce signing of Ferran Torres from Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed the acquisition of Ferran Torres from FC Barcelona. The transfer sees the Spain international forward join the French club after four and a half seasons with the Blaugranas.
Torres, born in Foios, Spain, on 29 February 2000, began his football journey in futsal before joining the Valencia CF academy at the age of 7. He made his La Liga debut against Eibar on 16 December 2017, becoming the first player born in the 21st century to play in the league. During his three seasons with Valencia, from 2017 to 2020, he played 97 matches, setting records such as being the youngest player in the club’s history to play 50 league matches at 19 years and 324 days. He also became the first 21st-century born goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League for a Spanish club and won his first professional trophy, the Copa del Rey, in 2019.
Career progression and achievements
His performances at Valencia led to a move to Manchester City in 2020. Under Pep Guardiola, Torres scored his first goal for the Cityzens in the EFL Cup against Burnley, shortly after his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton. In 2021, he was part of the Manchester City squad that reached the UEFA Champions League final and won the Premier League title and the League Cup. He made 43 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists, before transferring to FC Barcelona during the winter transfer window of the 2021–22 season.
At FC Barcelona, Torres, nicknamed “El Tiburón” (The Shark), quickly became a key attacking player. He played 207 matches for the club, scoring 65 goals and providing seven assists. His contributions included a crucial strike in the 2025 Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, which sent the game into extra time, ultimately leading to a victory for Barcelona. With FC Barcelona, he secured three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups. In the 2025/26 season, he won the Zarra Trophy alongside Lamine Yamal as the top Spanish goal scorer in La Liga with 16 goals.
International career highlights
On the international stage, Torres has been a prominent figure for Spain since his youth. He won the U17 European Championship in 2017 and the U19 European Championship in 2019. He has earned 65 caps for the national team. His international debut came in a Nations League match against Germany in 2020 under then-manager Luis Enrique.
Torres participated in Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. His international success continued with a Nations League victory in 2023 and his first major title with the national team, the UEFA European Championships in Germany, in 2024. Most recently, he won the World Cup in North America, scoring the only goal in extra time against Argentina in the final, earning him the Man of the Match award and helping Spain secure their second star.
Torres expressed his delight at joining Paris Saint-Germain, acknowledging President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos, and coach Luis Enrique for the opportunity. He hopes to contribute to the team’s success in winning many trophies.
FC Barcelona has extended its gratitude to Torres for his commitment during his time with the club and wished him well in the next phase of his professional career.
