Uttarakhand: Rishabh Pant seeks CM’s help for land acquisition to build home

Rishabh Pant's midnight plea to Uttarakhand CM: 'Please help me in land acquisition' as star seeks to build home in state

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has made a public appeal to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for assistance in acquiring land in the state. Pant expressed his desire to relocate his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and construct his first home in his native state.

Pant, who is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team for a Test series, used social media platform X to convey his request, tagging Dhami in his post. The 28-year-old mentioned that he has been attempting to find suitable land in Uttarakhand for the past three years but has faced difficulties in locating a property that meets his requirements.

He clarified that he is not seeking land as a gift but wishes to purchase it from the government at applicable rates. Pant emphasized his desire to return to his roots and contribute to the state after representing India internationally.

Pant’s connection to Uttarakhand and financial contributions

Born in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Pant began his cricketing journey there before moving to Delhi to pursue a professional career. Despite representing Delhi in domestic cricket, he has maintained a strong connection with Uttarakhand. His recent appeal highlights his intention to eventually make the state his home and aid its development.

This appeal follows Pant’s recognition as Uttarakhand’s highest individual taxpayer for the 2025-26 financial year, reportedly having paid Rs 23.84 crore in income tax. The Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Uttarakhand, announced these figures during an Income Tax Day event on July 24. Pant topped the list of individual taxpayers in the state for the second consecutive year.

Reports indicate that Pant’s tax contribution more than doubled from the previous financial year, when he had paid approximately Rs 10.5 crore in advance tax. He is also noted as the fourth-highest taxpayer in the non-corporate category.

Sources of income and endorsements

Pant’s significant tax payments reflect his earnings from various sources, including his BCCI contract, IPL salary, match fees, and endorsement deals. He was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore, making him one of the most expensive players in the league. During the assessed period, Pant was a Grade A BCCI-contracted cricketer, earning an annual retainership of Rs 5 crore. He has since been moved to Grade B, with his annual retainership reduced to Rs 3 crore.

His commercial earnings substantially contribute to his income. Pant has endorsement associations with several brands, including Adidas, Dream11, SG, Thums Up, Cadbury, boAt, Noise, Zomato, JSW Cement, and MakeMyTrip.

His IPL salary from Lucknow Super Giants was Rs 27 crore. His BCCI central contract was Rs 7 crore in Grade A until 2024-25. Additionally, he received IPL match fees of Rs 8 lakh per match, totaling Rs 1.10 crore. His India match fees were Rs 15 lakh for Test matches and Rs 8 lakh for ODI matches.

For brand shoots, Pant reportedly charges Rs 2.5 crore per day for a single-day advertisement and between Rs 4.5 to 4.75 crore for a two-day commitment. His brand endorsement fees are reported to be around Rs 28 to 35 crore per year for one brand.

Pant has scored 3557 runs in 50 Tests, 871 runs in 31 ODIs, and 1209 runs in 76 T20I matches. In his IPL career, he has accumulated 3865 runs in 139 matches.
